“Praying for our Provider’s Provision” is the essence of the message I shared on The Destination Manifestation Prayerline. Their theme was The Lord’s Prayer and I had volunteered to speak on Matthew 6:11, “Give us this day our daily bread.” I immediately picked this verse because it strongly resonates with me. I knew that it would provide a learning opportunity for me to see and trust God on a deeper level regarding His provisions for my life, and empower others with that knowledge.
BREAD
- Bread frequently stands for God’s provision for his people.
- Bread was the essential food of the ancient Israelites – During their 40 year wilderness journey, “Moses called manna, the bread which the Lord gave” them to eat. (Exodus 16:15).
- Bread came to be a primary metaphor for life and sustenance, meaning all the necessaries of life, and for the support of it.
- Jesus himself is the bread of life, provided as the ultimate sacrifice of love that reconciles us back to God; he is the sustenance from God that gives us eternal life. (John 6:25-59).
